August | Mountaineering Journey

One of the bigger things I had accomplished this year that has been on my list for a while was learning how to do crevasse rescue and learning how to glacier travel. I am super lucky that I got to experience my first Summit with my best friend and partner.

We started at 3AM our approach to the glacier, while D and I are both strong hikers we naturally got to the glacier before the light started to peak out. We hit the Glacier around 6ish AM and made our way through across the very dry glacier. The bonus about this, is that you are able to see all the crevasses. The downside is, there are no snow bridges to cross, therefore we spent a fair bit of time walking around to find ways across. While this made me a little nervous at times, being in danger zones more often than not, we made our way up to the Silver horn and then to the Summit!

We approached on the North Glacier then descended on the AA Col route. The entire trip took us 13.5 Hours due to so much navigation around crevasses.

I can’t express how excited I am to plan objectives for next year. I am hooked. πŸ™‡πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
